Hon. Colonial Secretary,

These ships are paid 10s. per ton gross

measurement as an advance but I understand that the Admiralty Charter will work out at 128. per ton and perhaps more, which

will be adjusted from time to time.

This is certainly a hard case and in

keeping with several others out of this port who speculated

in old ships after war started.

I do not think there would be any use in

Ship

approaching the Admiralty for release of one for the reasons given. As I understand all British Tornare not requisitioned

is shortly to come under control.

Jardines are already controlled.

Butterfield and Swire and

(sd.) c. W. Beckwith,

Harbour Master.
